stemmerrodrigues : “The fig tree represents the starting point for this project, putting it in evidence and respecting its pre-existence on the ground. The roots of the tree were preserved in their entirety, shifting the foundations of the building to the side in a minimal impact area.
The composition of the main facade is a tuning of contrasts between the rigidity of the concrete, the fig tree that gives its name to the house and the great rock that simulates the support of the volume, honouring a strong element of the regional landscape. In contrast to the sturdiness of the upper block, the lightness of the free space at the pedestrian level provides the transparency needed to contemplate the scene.
The facade facing the street serves as a blockade of the south wind. The sunshine and sight are therefore facing the opposite direction, to the north, maximising the contact with the channel water, energy efficiency and privacy. This resulted in a clean facade preserving the integrity of the volume.

_naturehumaine: “Located in the Côte-des-Neiges borough in Montreal, Le Paquebot project is part of an urban fabric strongly influenced by the architecture of the 1930s, from which it draws its name and its architectural style. Indeed, the “streamliner style”, which is associated with the art deco movement, was influenced by the nautical technological advances of the interwar period. It is characterized by the use of rounded corners, symmetry, sober and refined lines as well as the addition of multiple terraces.
The project consists of a semi-detached duplex with a ground layout of 24 feet by 25 feet for each housing, distributed over 3 floors + mezzanine. Le Paquebot is located on a narrow plot where existed a swimming pool serving a neighbouring building. Surrounded on three sides by multi residential buildings dating from the 1950s, the duplex brings a spark of novelty to the immediate surrounding.
Wishing to stand out from the rather dull and monolithic neighbours, the new building relies on a more playful language articulated by games of curves, particularly at the level of the exterior walls and roofs...”

// Seoul Twin Eye // We leveraged Rhino’s unique ability to toggle between two distinct forms of modeling. Accurate computational modeling with Grasshopper to establish the substructure sizing, pod design and rotational placement, while also assisting us in calculating overall journey speed/time, loading dock length/time and occupancy load.
Then accurate sub-D meshes wrapped the substructure much like a car chassis during automotive design.
A lesson learned through the process was that it wasn’t required to use a spherical pod on a gyroscopic swivel to stay level around the tilted plane. A traditional oval pod which accommodates a greater load capacity can still rotate around a planar bearing path on the surface of an egg shaped pod.
Pleasure working with the team and watching this project grow.
UNStudio teamed up with Arup and local firm Heerim Architecture to create a vision proposal for the new Peace Park Wheel, a landmark project initiated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government for Sangam World Cup Park in Seoul.
The 180 metre high structure is slated to be built on the edge of the Han River next to the World Cup Stadium. It will be the first ever of its kind, operating as a spokeless Ferris wheel with two intersecting rings. Each ring carries pods that seamlessly revolve around inside and outside tracks.

The magnificent Art Nouveau train station in Rouen 🚂
The history of Rouen railway station begins in 1841 with the building of a railway between Paris and Rouen. The construction of the first station saw a landing stage brought into service in the Saint-Sever neighbourhood (left bank). The first train arrived at Saint-Sever station on 3rd May 1843. In 1912 when the traffic became too heavy on the Paris-Rouen line, it was decided to rebuild the western station on the right bank of the Seine. Conducted by the architect Adolphe Dervaux, the works went on from 1912 until 1924. The new Art Nouveau station was inaugurated on 4th July 1928 by the President of the Republic Gaston Doumergue.

Com m’agraden les coronelles trífores primerenques del segle XIII i les bífores romàniques… I la façana septentrional del castell de Sant Martí Sarroca conserva un catàleg ben reeixit i representatiu d’aquestes obertures tan característiques de l’arquitectura medieval catalana.

Edificio de oficinas en calle Amador de los Ríos, 5 para primework_ , donde la prestigiosa revista forbes_es estrenará su primer club privado de negocios del mundo.
Su promotor, Andrés Rodríguez, ha elegido una ubicación icónica en el centro financiero de la capital española.
El edificio dispone de un espacio de 2.000 metros cuadrados repartidos en siete plantas. Contará con dos restaurantes: uno interior para el invierno y un segundo de verano en la azotea.
Lo que hace excepcional a este edificio es su fachada, en la que solo se ve el vidrio y piedra caliza torsionada, y la carpintería metálica queda oculta.

FORBES AT AMADOR DE LOS RÍOS, 5
Office building located at 5 Amador de los Ríos Street for primework_ , where the prestigious Forbes magazine will unveil its first world-class private business club.
Its developer, Andrés Rodríguez, has chosen an iconic location in the financial center of the Spanish capital.
The building features a 2,000-square-meter space spread across seven floors. It will host two restaurants: an indoor one for the winter and a second one on the rooftop for the summer.
What sets this building apart is its exceptional facade, where only the glass and twisted stone can be seen and metalworks is hidden.

Stone, ceramics, and wrought ironwork harmonically reveal a darling of a narrow façade at Casa Isabel Pomar on Carrer Girona (N. 86) in Eixample Dreta. The stunning gothic crowning and the outstanding tiled and stepped grandstand on the main floor are the most noteworthy features. The building is said to have been built between 1904 and 106 and is the work of Joan Rubió i Bellver, a pupil of Antoni Gaudí. When I first moved to Barcelona I dreamed of living on the last floor and having the beautiful Barcelona sunshine in my living room through the gothic windows....well, that never happened, but it still puts a smile on my face every time I walk by.

✴️ Au 105, boulevard Poniatowski, dans le 12e arrondissement de Paris, se dresse un manifeste en faveur de l’ornement contemporain. Pour la façade sur rue de ce bâtiment de 12 logements sociaux, les architectes de l’agence Mars (Julien
Broussard, Raphaël Renard et Sylvain Rety) ont choisi, « à la manière des superpositions d’Idris Khan à partir des photos de Bernd and Hilla Becher », d’entrelacer, grâce à des panneaux de béton matricé, les modénatures des deux immeubles haussmanniens adjacents.
🇬🇧 At 105 boulevard Poniatowski, in Paris’ 12th arrondissement, stands a manifesto for contemporary ornament. For the façade of this 12-unit social housing building, the architects from office Mars (Julien Broussard, Raphaël Renard and Sylvain Rety) chose, “in the manner of Idris Khan’s superimpositions based on Bernd and Hilla Becher’s photographs,” to mix the lines of the two adjacent Haussmannian buildings, using panels of die-cast concrete.
